As we ve written about in our newsletter, the symbolism of an egg, changing, as it does, from being utterly still to bursting with new life, has been with us for a long time. Africans, 60,000 years ago, decorated them. Egyptians, 5,000 years ago, were buried with them. The Christian church officially 1000bulbs adopted them as a symbol of Christ s resurrection in 1610.
And soon after that, in 1680, the harbinger of the Easter Bunny hopped along. 1000bulbs A hare, seen at the time as a pure animal and one long associated with the Virgin Mary, was presented in a German fable as bringing pretty painted eggs to good little girls and boys.
Please note that we ll be closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday, open until 7pm on the Saturday and the Monday.
