On the stand of France Televisions, we witnessed the first demonstration of Li-Fi (Light Fidelity) in France. It is broadcast digital data by light (LED lamp). The principle is simple: the LED turns on and off at high speed and is not visible by humans. There is a stream which transmits 0 and 1 and therefore the data. With the proliferation of objects connected, the Wi-Fi networks are increasingly overloaded and Li-Fi solution is uen superb alternative.
Li-Fi brings many economic and environmental benefits: free and unlimited band frequencies, data rates up to 1 Gbit, economic power (up 80%), reduction of electromagnetic pollution, pier park stores radio wave ... No, no electro-magnetic radiation, diffusion is by LED bulbs that fit more in our homes.
With Li-Fi, many uses are possible: interactivity in museums, parking assistance system geolocation, measuring distances between vehicles for safer driving, Internet connectivity in hospitals, Internet on the train ...
For the demo at LeWeb, France Televisions played on LED colors to deliver music to each color. A JBL speaker, the company installed a Oledcomm Li-Fi receiver to receive the data. We also saw a demo with video streaming.
